European sales continuing to decline and the long-term outlook for other mature
markets uncertain, carmakers have high hopes for
Rao Da, secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association, told the China Daily newspaper that sales growth would likely be strong in 2013 as well. ”Providing there are no more government curbs, the passenger vehicle market could grow 10 percent in 2013,” he said.
The Chinese government has taken measures to drive down car sales in major cities to counteract growing pollution. If additional measures are implemented, that will further depress sales, Rao said. “If so, annual growth will be 5 percent.”

The show will kick off with a press day on April 20, when international and domestic automakers will display new models and technologies and hold press conferences. April 21 and 22 will be industry days and the following seven days will be for the general public.
The auto show will feature exhibits from most international and Chinese car brands.
