Shandong Ruyi to set up a textile industrial park in Kano, Nigeria

The Kano State government of North West Nigeria has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Shandong Ruyi Technology Group of China, for the establishment of a $600m Textile Industrial Park in the state, reported by Nigerian media on Sep 27. The investment will be the Ruyi’s biggest investment in Africa, upon completion. Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, and the company’s chairman, Mr. Qiu Yafu, signed the agreement at the company’s headquarters in Jining, Shandong, China. 

Governor Umar Ganduje stated that Kano has put in the place facilities for textile clusters across its 44 local government areas and he assured he would create enabling environment for the smooth take off of the project, This investment will be the largest foreign direct investment in Nigeria recently, not only strengthening the relationship between the two countries, but also promoting the economic propesity of Kano’s. The Chairman of Ruyi Group, Mr. Qiu said the investment was to hasten growth and support global development, noting that having the governor come personally for the signing of the MoU was a boost to the successful implementation of the project.
